GM Plans $127M Investment in Indiana Metalcasting Facility

December 15, 2015

General Motors, Detroit, announced plans for a $127.4 million investment in its casting facility in Bedford, Ind., that is expected to create 127 jobs. GM’s Bedford Casting Operations will expand its casting capabilities of powertrain and structural components to support production of new aluminum engine blocks and components.

“This investment in the future recognizes the excellent workforce at Bedford Casting Operations,” said Lamar Rucker, manager, Bedford Casting Operations. “It also demonstrates GM’s collaboration with our UAW and International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers partners, which reflects how we continue to bring new powertrain solutions to our customers.”

Including this investment, GM has invested more than $420 million in the Bedford plant since 2010. The Bedford plant currently has approximately 700 employees on three shifts and produces transmission casings, converter housings, heads, and small gas engine blocks used in Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac vehicles.(source from:American Foundry Society)
